Sodium coco sulfate (SCS) is a coconut oil-derived alternative to sodium laurel sulfate (SLS), a common additive in soaps, detergents and other personal care products. Sodium coco sulfate is an anionic surfactant typically sold in powder or pellet form. The Acme-Hardesty product takes the form of long, thin needles, allowing it to dissolve faster. Our sodium coco sulfate has a distinct odor and a pH level between 7.5 and 10.5 in a 1-percent aqueous solution. It contains at least 95 percent active matter and no more than 2 percent sodium sulfate and 1.5 percent unsulfated alcohol.

Typical applications for Acme-Hardesty sodium coco sulfate include soap and personal care product manufacturing. It is used as a surfactant, dispersing agent and foaming agent in everything from toothpaste to laundry detergent. Other, less common uses of SCS include as a biocide or pesticide, as a food additive, and in various laboratory processes for analyzing blood and genetic material.

Acme-Hardesty sodium coco sulfate is fully biodegradable and poses no environmental hazards. It is an irritant to skin and, in particular, eyes. You should wear appropriate protective clothing, including goggles, at all times when working with SCS. You should also keep the product away from sources of heat, as well as strong acids, oxidizing agents and moisture.

When stored properly, Acme-Hardesty sodium coco sulfate can last for up to two years from the date of manufacture. Keep SCS in a dry place, at temperatures below 40°C. To avoid lumping, do not stack heavy bags on top of one another.
